Works great!
By SwingaLing
This bulb/housing was purchase to replace one on a 5 year old 50" Sony Grand Wega. Amazing the bulb lasted so long but recently the picture was looking darker and muddy. We weren't sure because the change was so gradual and who remembers what the picture was like 5 years ago.I was a little nervous, because I didn't know how hard it would be to change the bulb and I had read a lot of negative review about generic bulbs on the market. But Phillips makes a great product, so I am glad we sprang for the additional cost, for peace of mind. Beside the generic only saves $15-20. Just not worth it.The good news is the bulb arrived very fast (ahead of the estimated delivery) and replacing the bulb (that comes in the housing) took all of 2 minutes, no tools required. Anyone can do it.The great news is the picture is now so bright we need sunglasses - okay, kidding, but the difference was amazing and we did turn down the tv's brightness. I forgot how bright these tvs are. Great when using it in a well lit room. Thanks! Very happy.

Installation Tip if You Own a Sony KDF-E50A10
By T. Kridel
I bought this module to replace the 6-year-old original in my Sony KDF-E50A10. Installation is very easy if you follow your TV's manual. If you've lost that, Google around. You should be able to find a PDF of it for free. Or check on YouTube for a tutorial. If you own a Sony KDF-E50A10, here's an installation tip: After installing the module and closing the door cover, if you turn on the TV, hear the fan kick on and then hear it click off, you'll probably see a red light flashing below the screen. If it flashes over and over in series of threes, the fix should be simple. (If it flashes a different amount of times, consult Sony or a repair shop.)First, pull the module back out, then reinsert it, close the door and try again. Some people have posted that they had to do this several times before the lamp would power up and display video. If that doesn't do the trick, leave the module in, close the door and then jiggle the door handle a few times. When closed, the right side of the door handle activates a tiny switch that tells the TV that the door is in place. It's possible that the handle isn't in the right spot to trip the switch. If that still doesn't do the trick, pull the module and set it aside. Then take a flashlight and shine it into the spot where the module goes. At the back of this tunnel, you'll see what looks like a bunch of tiny mirrors. Below them, you'll see two connectors, which plug into the ones on the module. To the right of those connectors, you should see a tiny sliver of metal. That's another switch. It's possible that the replacement module isn't hitting that switch just right. That's why some people report having to unseat and reseat the module multiple times: Eventually they get it in the right spot to hold down that switch.Through process of elimination, I concluded that this switch was the problem. I took the module and turned the lamp end toward me. Then I cut up some electrical tape and stuck it to the part of the module that's supposed to touch that switch. I applied three layers of tape and made sure that the edges weren't sticking up, where they could touch the lamp or get caught in the connector. Then I reinserted the module, closed the door and powered up the TV. It immediately worked, and so far, I've had no problems. (I'll post a revised review if anything changes.)If this tip doesn't work for you, it's possible that the door switch is defective. Fortunately that's a relatively easy fix for a repair shop.As for the module itself, I bought this one because the seller said the lamp is a Philips, which made the original lamps for Sony. Don't be surprised when the module arrives and isn't in a Philips box. I assume that's because the seller bought the lamp from Philips and assembled it into the module. If you look carefully at the lamp, you should see a label that identifies it as a Philips product.Good luck.

Product worked as propopsed...

Product was proposed to be the preferred replacement for the television. It arrived on time and was easy to install. I would buy this item again.
