Great... if they were $40
By A. Gottlieb
For $100 I was expecting something special. Alas, Skins failed to provide it. I guess they're decent quality, but they didn't feel any different from Nike compression shorts, and not nearly as substantial or supportive as my Under Armor Core shorts. Plus they are definitely not half tights, I was thinking they'd come to just above my knees, but at 6'2" the large barely covers to mid-thigh, so a big portion of your quads and hammy's won't get support.

Great running shorts
By GJeff
I bought a pair of these a few weeks ago in order to transition from compression tights to shorts as the weather is getting better. A little background - I run 40-45 miles a week and definitely notice the difference full compression tights make in quicker recoveries, etc. To date I have used/own compression products by 2XU, Sugoi, and Champion. The Pros: these shorts are aesthetically very neatly designed - they look great. The built-in front cup provides much better support and comfort than brands like 2XU and Sugoi who just have a flat panel in the front. Compression-wise these are not going to provide the same benefit as full length compression tights - however the sizing chart seems to be spot on - at 185, 6'0", the medium's fit just like I expected from the sizing chart. They also have a nifty panel towards the top of your butt crack in the back that allows for ventilation. If you sweat a lot this is a godsend. The will prevent chafing - you might not even need the body glide - however I usually use it for anything over 10miles just to be safe...The Cons: When I first tried these on, I did hear some creaking and thought maybe some of the stitching had torn - I haven't seen any evidence of this yet, but may return later to update if I have problems. Probably the biggest problem so far is a rather unfortunate side-effect of running many miles - hairs start to work out through the fabric. If you have any compression wear, you probably have seen this on your legs, the problem with these shorts is that the short and curlies can also work their way out in the crotch area - this is really nasty. I have not had this problem with Sugoi or 2XU - not sure if its just more dense material in the crotch area with those brands, but this is an issue with these Skinz. Most of my running is solo, but I think I will either avoid these on race day, or throw some shorts over these after my race if I expect to stand around in public for any length of time.UPDATE: So these shorts have reached end of life for me - around 375 miles they started to split apart at the inseams - they now have 423 miles on them and I use them occasionally under another layer when doing things like costume races. I am a bit torn as I think they should have been a little more durable - I have 2XU compression shorts which are similar that have 400mi+ and don't have a single hole or wear spot on them. Likewise I have a pair of Sugoi tights that just passed the 600mi mark recently in fine form (albeit faded graphics). So I'm not sure what happened with these Skins shorts - I follow the manufacturer recommended wash instructions and even try to get several uses before wash (I know, gross, but I run alone most of the time).

Absolute Best
By alex
I'm right on the boarder of sizes and chose to size down. Great decision. They feel tighter than most compression shorts I've tried, and are more supportive in the groin area These are perfect for running I've only ran a few miles in them but so far they are great, and build quality seems durable as well. A+
