great tool for any application

*First I would like to say, 59.99 is not a bad price for a 100.00 multitool...*When I was first searching for a multitool for tactical application and basic daily use, I looked at this tool, but also had my eye on other brands like: SOG, Gerber, and CRKT. In the end I felt that this tool brought more to the table in terms of base functionality, cost-effectiveness, quality, warranty and ease of use.*When I first got the tool, I removed it from the box and examined it. I noticed that the black matte finish was slightly marred in some areas which was expected from the previous reviews I had seen. All tool functions were working properly, however, the matte finish makes a gritty noise when opening some of the inner tools. again, expected. It will break in eventually. The blades were absolutely the best part. The plain edge was hair shaving sharp (yes I tested this) the saw was sharp, and the serrated edge has a nice pattern to it (also sharp). similar to the gerber LMFII serration. another thing I enjoy is that the blades are on the outside of the knife instead of the inside, which makes the knife very accessible and quick. I expect that the blades will also stay sharp considering the blades are made with 420HC steel, which is a lower end steel, but it is notorious for its edge holding capabilities and it's corrosion resistance. The inner tools all functioned great and were of high quality as well. The locking mechanisms are also unique. EVERY single tool locks on this knife.*The case is good quality (but made in china). it is made out of thick nylon which is virtually indestructable. I don't like the velcro strap used to enclose the knife into the pouch however, because #1 velcro is loud, #2 velcro wears out, and #3 velcro can sometimes be unreliable. I would much prefer a snapping buckle or a button. The strap used to attach to molle gear is confusing (although i will figure it out eventually haha), and does not work with wide belts or straps which is also dissapointing. (Belt in ACU uniform). Not a big deal though, it is very easy to find replacement sheaths.*In all, this knife is excellent quality and i'm sure it will serve me well in my future endeavors. Not top of the line, but perfect for the purpose intended. Also would like to point out that Leatherman has a 25 year warranty on all of their knives. This is especially good for people who abuse their tools like I do :)

Wave

We purchased this Wave w/Cap Crimper/Black Oxide even though I was leary after reading that the black came off on your hands. We purchased this for our 27 yr. old son (Mr. He Has Everything) for his birthday and he was absolutely delighted with it. In fact he called twice to tell us how much he uses it and doesn't think he will need another tool when out and about on his treks into the wilds of wherever! The black coming off was not a problem and he was just very happy with it.

Gotta love Leatherman

I bought this as a replacement for another Leatherman Wave that I lost going through airport security (bummer). The Wave has a lot of useful tools for me. I have literally taken mine with me across the world and it always comes in handy whether I need a quick blade, pliers, screwdriver, etc. It had regular-sized and miniature Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, a saw blade, file, scissors (which aren't so great) and lots of other features. I'm not sure whether the black oxide helps me or not, but I suppose it looks good. Wave for the win!
