My child can pull to stand and on occasion she will side step while holding on to something but she doesn't have the balance to walk nor the cognitive pattern that tells her to take a step and she certainly isn't going to crawl to a walker and hold on to the side bars so she can walk. To get her to walk I balance her and shift her weight and then she will take a step. Her preference though is to crawl everywhere because it is much faster and stable. I got this walker to force her to use her feet to get somewhere and for that it is wonderful. Even if she is sitting in this walker, she has to use her feet to scoot somewhere. I have the back wheels locked and I put a ten pound bag of rice on the back bar to slow it down because she isn't ready for it to take off as fast as it does but she can pull to stand with the front bar and take a few steps on her own. I have noticed since using this that she is free-standing much more often and staying there longer (still under a minute but hey!). I am increasing the amount of time she spends in it each day but now school is getting in the way. What I really like about this walker, and I researched several, is the following: she's stuck in it so she doesn't have the option to get down and crawl, she can still move when sitting, she can use a bar in front of her to walk instead of unnaturally holding something out on the sides of her, I can add weight to slow it down, it fits down the hallway and she can turn into her room, it can go on carpet (takes more effort of course which is good if you want it to go slower), and there isn't a bar in front that sticks out so she can't get to things (some walkers have a stabilizer or bar that sticks out several inches in front of where she walks and it hits the wall before she gets to the shelf I mounted her toys on). The instructions were horrible and needed pictures (many of the steps it said to do were already done and screws it told you to find were already in the walker) but the pieces came with color dots which made it easier. My dream would be that it would be collapsible/ easy to transport but I didn't find anything that worked for her that was. She did manage to get out of it once too and any determined child could, especially if they are over 12 months mentally which my daughter isn't. Most importantly I could afford it which I can't say for almost everything else out there. She can also walk down the sidewalk with it. All in all, I'm very glad I bought it. Go to their website so you can see the exact sizes and dimensions to get the right fit for your child. Mine is about the size of an average five-year-old.
