It might be overkill for my tank, but its great!

I bought this for a 75 gallon fresh water planted tank. It is probably more than I need, but I wanted something to track my pH for Co2 injection. The best part is having 8 outlets that you can program independently of each other. I am running three light strips that I turn on one at a time over a two hour period as not to shock my fish too much, and then turn off in the same manner, crudely simulating a sunrise/sunset. You could have the device simulate fairly accurate sunrise/set times if you wanted. I have the unit simulate seasonal temperatures, which is kind of nice, I'm not sure if it makes the fish any happier, but it's nice to know it can be done. I discovered that it can email or text me if any of the set parameters fall out of a certain range. I can manually control all aspects of my tank from my Windows Phone(third party software) but Apex does provide an Android or iPhone app. I use the chart and graphing feature to track how much and how fast my plants are utilizing Co2. Overall, it is a very handy device, probably more useful for someone with a reef tank, but it has made things in my planted take much easier. I would recommend owning one even if you don't have a reef.

This controller is awesome and works crazy well just wish it came with instructions on the setup but thank god we have other people who already done a set up before.
