By tyler_pgh
These speakers are my very first, component setup, home theater/stereo speakers. Purchased them 2 years ago along with a 75watt/channel HK receiver directly after moving into my own apartment. My satisfaction level of these speakers has been somewhat of a roller coaster ride. Upon initial setup, I was a little unimpressed. I expected "bigger" sound. They produce somewhat of a colder sound (as opposed to the warm sound most people desire from theater grade speakers). Bass isn't extremely heavy, but the high ends sore beautifully. But my liking for these speakers grew after watching a good number of movies on them. Which leads me to my short, but sweet opinion of these...Great for movies, so-so for music. I've heard other reviewers, professional and user alike, say that same thing and I couldn't agree more. They deliver the necessary punch for action scenes and dialog sounds natural coming out of them. I think its mainly due to the horn that Klipsch uses for their tweeter, that gives the ability for gun shots and car crashes to sound awesome and life like. The surround sound output of blu-rays really manage to dip into their low range capabilities as well. A good example of this is a scene from the blu-ray "Taken". Theres a bass thump thats supposed to be the opening for a concert scene that made these speakers send a smooth waterfall of bass from the front to the back of the room. But for music they just don't really have it. To this day, I'm still wishing for more "umph" out of them. I now have a center and subwoofer connected to my system that corrected this, but thats beside the point. On their own, I just wasn't feeling the price tag coming out in the music. I'm sure if I added more wattage to them, I'd get a bigger sound, but I don't think it'd be a warmer sound.Over all though, if you're looking for tower speakers to add to your theater sound setup, couldn't recommend more. If you're looking for a hi-fi stereo setup to listen to music on, might want to look else where.

I've had my F20's for about a month now, and I listen to them quite extensively with different formats and genres of music, movies, and gaming. Here is my current set up (I'm slowly building it up piece by piece to something better): a C-20 center speaker, two F-20's floor standing speakers, and a JVC RXD201S 7 channel receiver. I realize that the receiver is a bottleneck for me currently, but even with this pedestrian receiver I am still astounded by the quality of sound emitted by these speakers. Also, notice I do not have a subwoofer hooked up to my system yet. This will be important for my review later.Upon receiving them at my door via UPS I was surprised by the size of the box and the weight of each speaker. These are not small speakers, nor are they light. The build and quality of the speaker seems solid, the color and appearance are somewhat of a catch if your home decor doesn't match well with an all black home theater set up. In my house it matches well, and to me they look nicer with the grill attached on the front than without it.I wired the speaker with the bridge attached to the back (I did not bi-wire it)I made sure the bridge was tight and not loose. And now, onto the goodstuff:My first song played on the set up was a 320kbps MP3 version of "O Fortuna" by Carl Orff. Without delving into the realm of hyperbole let me just say that I had an eargasm. I could discern every single instrument being played, I could discern different people in the choir singing the lyrics, and when the orchestra bass drum starts hitting at the apex of the song, the house shook (and remember I have no subwoofer hooked up) For some tests on highs, I tried playing some songs from the soundtracks to "The Mission" and "Last of the Mohicans" ... Amazing sounding. Other genres of music hold up extremely well, rock, pop, reggeaton, rap, spanish guitar, oldies. The thing with these speakers, they sound so well I want to listen to everything through them, just to see what I've been missing.I've also watched movies, and played games (xbox360) through these speakers, and everytime I'm amazed at what these speakers put out. Small sounds that before were drowned out or never even emitted are now crystal clear. The bass during explosions is crisp, taught, and deep. Playing shoot-em-up games like call of duty, and battlefield, are so lifelike now that it instantly makes the game better. I have not yet found distortion at high levels of volume, I do think my ears would probably get damaged before I get to that point. The average price on these speakers hovers right around $350 per speaker... I lucked out on a sale for buy one get one free. Needless to say, I jumped on that price. For the price I paid, they're probably the best buy I have ever made. However, if I had to pay $750 for the pair, or higher, I think I would still be extremely happy with owning these. To my ear, they're just THAT good.Recently, Audiovox bought Klipsch, these are one of the last few that will be made by the old Klipsch before Audiovox implements new manufacturing and changes to the Klipsch line. This simple fact alone makes me so glad I bought them when I did.
