By Marvin Lee Jr.
This VIPER SECTOR 7 is the model with last three letters designation "LLK" for Low Latency Kit" and it is SUPERIOR quality fast DDR3 RAM. BUY THIS DESIGNATION instead of the similar types in "Sector" or "Gaming" series that are marked "ELK" ("Enhanced Latency Kit") if you want to have a trouble free installation AND the ability to run at advertised speeds OR if you want to try to overclock your RAM. The LLK series will easily clock at the advertised (in this example) 1600 MHZ speed. It will even likely perform at 1805 and without voltage boosting required. The ELK series, on the other hand, is LUCKY if it can hit advertised speeds at default voltage. Usually ELK needs a boost to 1.65v from default 1.5v and higher CAS numbers to run at advertised speeds. If you can run at default Intel-recommended speeds (referring here to i7 proc 980x on Asus X58-Premium mobo) then system will theoretically last longer and actually run cooler, thus saving energy and noise from fans etc. These are NOT criticisms of Patriot memory but commentary on ALL distributors of RAM modules who try to keep happy a price-sensitive public. Keep in mind that MEMORY is the MOST important part of your computer build. BUY THE BEST (like these) for years of error-free PC enjoyment. The nicely finished heatsinks on Patriot memory do take away heat efficiently as CPU fan will suck air past the gaps of the heatsinks. Plus the heatsinks make insertion of the DDR3 modules a breeze. Highly recommended.

By M. P. Konars
This ram is super fast and runs at advertised specs. With no more than simply going into the BIOS on my EVGA x58 3x SLI and enabling XMP profile 1, this RAM was up and running at its advertised specs (1600MHz 8-9-8-24). I didn't even have to adjust voltages on either the CPU or the RAM. (i7 920 @ 2.758MHz running undervolted @ .988v) So far smooth as can be, runs perfectly, makes a huge performance difference that's noticeable at keyboard level. Can multi-task like crazy. I can have 2 browsers open (20+ tabs each), and run 2 demanding games without any issue. And not even use 70% of the available RAM. Would highly recommend them.Haven't tried out overclocking them yet, but if it's anything like my last set of Vipers, I'm sure they'll overclock like mad. Read a professional review about these sticks, the reviewer was able to get these to run @ 2047MHz CAS 9 with little more than raising the FSB. Great RAM. I overall like the look, however the graphic on the side could be a little cooler. It's just kinda meh, but I'm definitely not taking a star off for that.GET IT, IT'S GREAT STUFF!
