Spy Hawk Pro bug detector review

Although i did not buy this at Amazon i think a lot of people might be looking for a review on this item.I have been looking around the web for one and did not find any.So here i will try to describe this as good as i can in my best English.First of all this is not made from metal it is made out of plastic and the only metal you will find is the switch on top and the earplug and wiretap plug on the side.( might be for antenna's sake so the metal wont interfere )The plastic feels sturdy and solid though.It does what the description says : You flip the switch and start scanning area's you suspect of having bugs.with the front(little graphic bar display) facing the spots you want to scan.The nice little graphic is not a real display its a sticker( metallic like) this was disappointing to me as i thought the little display would actually show you activity when catching a signal.Instead the lights on top show you when you are near some transmitting device be it a bug , phone , wifi , microwave etc etc. )The manual is short but explains clearly how to use it and tells you exactly how to detect wiretapping on your phone or how to do a sweep and the distance you need.The detection range is up to 9 GHz.It takes a 9 volt battery and because you don't use it constantly it lasts long.The company that make these also sends you a white noise CD that supposed to cancel out voices when someone trying to record your conversation but i did not manage to be able to mask my voice on a recorder while this is playing unless it is played so loud that you can not even talk to each other in a normal way thus screaming to get over the sound and that way a recorder will catch your conversation anyway. might be doing something wrong)I am happy i bought this although the price is extremely high in my opinion, But it works like a charm.I do hope this cleared some things up for anyone that is interested in this item if not i am happy to answer any questions you might have.

Looks similar to what the pros use

We suspected a bug in the apartment but this device did not detect any. So we called a professional investigator in to inspect a 900 square foot apartment. He used a device very similar to this Spy Hawk and also found nothing. But for him, we had to pay $1000 for one hour of searching. It is hard to rate the effectiveness of this device if there was nothing to detect! so I give it four stars.
