Nice-Hiker-Runs Small!

I purchased this hiking shoe specifically because I've gotten such great wear out of my very old and comfy Columbia Traverse hiking shoes. I've had them for at least 4 years and have worn them in all climates and conditions and have always been pleased. Well, they are finally giving up the ghost and so I decided to purchase a new pair of hiking shoes. I went with the Shastalavista Omni-Tech as they appeared to be the most similar to my Traverses (although at twice the price). They look good, seem rugged but, alas, they are too tight, especially in the toe box. I've been a consistent size 8 shoe wearer my entire adult life and this is the first pair of size 8s I'll be returning because they are too small. I tried wearing them around the house for a few hours to see if my feet might "settle in" a little but all I ended up with was uncomfortable baby toes and hot feet. I'll be going with a size 8.5 and let you know how those are!!
