Product Description

TIME-SERT is a sophisticated thread repair system that is considered by many to be superior to any other method of repairing stripped or damaged threads. TIME-SERT is a solid bushing insert. This facilitates easy installation and allows for full torque to be applied to repaired threads, ensuring a strong, permanent repair. TIME-SERT is thin walled due to synchronized internal / external threads. Small outer diameter allows for installation in areas where clearance is critical. TIME-SERT is self-positioning. The flange on the top of the insert will insure that the insert cannot wind down into the newly repaired hole. TIME-SERT® is self locking. On installation the bottom internal threads of the insert expand to lock the insert in place.

5Awesome tool
By BMW NOOB
I have been rebuilding engines for about 10 years now, and this is the first BMW engine I've rebuilt. The aluminum on these engines are so soft after it has gone through a catastrophic failure due to overheating. This tool is a must. All my head bolts on the exhaust side were all stripped. I was at first very hesitant to drill holes into the block, but the way the bits are set up, you cannot go wrong. It was very easy to use and the instructions were awesome.

5It works
By G. Lawrence
Blew a radiator hose on our 04 330ic, pulled over even before the temp gauge had reached the red zone but too late, damage was done. Per the BMW bulletin, "after loosening the head bolts, before removing the head re-torque the old head bolts to check if the block is damaged." Sure enough, 1 head bolt just spun in the block with thread damage. BMW suggests replacing the engine which is $$$$. Ordered the timesert kit and was able to fix the block, replace the head gasket and assemble the engine. Works like new. Highly recommended. Not a shade tree mechanic job but if one can handle replacing a head gasket on a bmw, timing the vanos etc then drilling the block for timeserts is doable.I would recommend either buying the kit with the drilling guide or making your own, it would be easy to ruin the block by drilling the holes incorrectly.
