Excellent Stroller!

After much research and comparison shopping, we decided on the Mountain Buggy Duo. We own the Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle and love it, but we were not going to blindly buy another MB; even with how much we love the Urban Jungle. When the Duo arrived and we put it together we found it to have the same quality and features that we love so much about the UJ. It's incredibly easy to set up and collapse down. The wheels are a great size for easy maneuvering and a smooth ride. Add the suspension system and both kids (newborn and toddler) are very comfortable. I tell people it's the Cadillac of strollers. We are very thankful that both strollers have been bought for us by a number of people pooling their funds together to give us a gift certificate to purchase what we wanted, otherwise we would never be able to afford such an expensive ride for our kids. But because we spend so much time at Disneyland in SoCal, it's important for us to get something that works for them and us.One of the main things I looked for in a stroller and found in both our strollers (single and double) is the height. I am 6' 2" and always watched other men bending over to walk their children's strollers. I just didn't want to have to do that; I wanted to be able to stand upright and take full strides. Both our MB's have allowed me to do that; I've been beyond pleased with how comfortable it is for both me and my wife. The handle adjusts perfectly for folks of all sizes...normal sizes anyway.The only thing we don't care for is the 5 point harness. Our toddler son is big enough that we don't feel the need to use the shoulder harness. On our UJ we can only strap him in using the lab belt and just put the shoulder straps behind the pad. The 5 point harness they've come out with now incorporates both the lap belt and should belt into a single belt. You are unable to use the lap belt without the shoulder belt. We don't care for this at all. If I can find a way to work around this without doing permanent damage to the stroller I certainly will, but at this point I've not spent enough time trying to figure it out.Summary:Pros: Ease of use, safety, quality, comfort (for both children and parents)Cons: Price, 5 point harness, customer service (I know I didn't get into this, but it's a review of the stroller, not the company. I'll simply say that before MB went bankrupt and sold out to Phil and Ted's it was a pleasure to work with them. Dealing with Phil and Ted's has been nothing but frustrating and disappointing).Bottom Line: If you can afford it, get one!

Out With the New and Back into the Old!

Mountain Buggy was bought out by Phil & Teds in 2009 and production of the strollers was moved from New Zealand to China. The quality that was once expected and faithfully delivered from Mountain Buggy has pretty much disappeared. The previous version of this stroller, before the company was acquired by P&T, was called the Urban Double. Even though they look very similar, they are not. The older stroller was a true workhorse. It could handle just about anything and was durable and reliable. The Duo stroller just feels cheap in comparison. The tires, fabric, hinges, and frame do not look and feel like the original high quality Mountain Buggy we once loved. My advice is stay away! Phil & Teds strollers have mediocre reviews at best because true quality and well thought out design are lacking. That same unfortunate fate seems to be around the corner, if not already here for Mountain Buggy. Phil & Teds is riding on the coattails of what was once a GREAT stroller manufacturer and changing everything that should have been left alone.

After a TON of research I finally bought this stroller.Main points for me1. All terrain tires, these are beasts I can go up low/ medium curbs without lifting and it tackles broken sidewalks easily.2. Narrow. Now this thing looks HUGE, but it breezes through doorways.3. Amazing handling, I was going into a bike shop to get my tires filled and realized I had to bring the stroller in backwards, it just spun in place. No effort at all.4. So easy and light to push. I didn't think I'd use the run away wrist strap, but it is needed. I can push this stroller with my stomach while walking, or wrists or one finger or whatever. I put my 2 1/2 year old (34 lbs) and my niece (4 years 36lbs) and honestly it didn't feel any more difficult to push then when no one was in it.5. Don't have but will want: I love the scooter for older children and the Cozy cot, it reminds me of the Bugaboo Donkey Base Stroller, Black but much much better price tag.6. Back wheels pop off very easily for storage.Couple of dislikesI don't like the double handed closure.It doesn't automatically lock closed.In order to adjust straps to lower level(though this may be different on newer or other models)you need to remove seat from frame.water bottle holder fits funny (closed contained needed, so I can't put my Dunkin Donuts ice coffee in it)Parts of it are plastic, I'm a bit worried about longevity, but haven't found others with this problem.Lets be honest, The bad reviews are about how this company used to be in NZ and now its made in China, but with that change also came a $200+ price drop and some changes (like double shades) Phil and Teds (who now own Mountain Buggy) is a respected company and they manufacture there. This is a great product on its own, I don't feel like its fair to compare it to a product that no longer exists. While I'm sure the old version was a better product (as made in NZ would be) this stroller is awesome too and personally given the price point difference I'd still buy this stroller over the older one.In my research I came down to wanting either a Baby Jogger City Mini GT Double Stroller, Shadow/Orange or this one. They are the same size 29" what made the difference for me was 8.5" tire verse the Mountain Buggy's 12" (which is a huge difference 'off road') Citymini goes upto 100lbs verses Mountain Buggy's 110lbs and the idea that I could buy a cozy cot (though not needed as this stroller lies flat as well) to 'donkey' this stroller. I would recommend looking at both to see which suits your needs as the price points are very similar as well as general specs. Baby Gizmo has great video reviews as well.
