The Jay Turser Trans red 50 series SG Clone is a sweet guitar with great action and tone. This is the third Jay Turser guitar that I have bought. The price is right and the quality is very good.

A good find, used at GC

I picked up one of these last year at GC for $130 used. I always wanted an SG-type guitar, but I wasn't impressed with the Epi's and didn't want to spend a $G on a Gibson. Although used, it seemed to have decent action and tone. After I got it home, I noticed little things that bugged me so I began to fix them. First, the lead pickup was upside down for some reason. Second, there was some errant solder ball rolling around in the vol/tone compartment. Next, I adjusted the tune-o-matic bridge to get the intonation right and raised it a bit to get rid of some buzz. Finally, it was dropping out of tune with every bend, so I took a #2 mechanical pencil and rubbed lead in the nut slots and the bridge slots-big improvement. This is now my favorite guitar for hard rock (AC/DC etc.). Other things: great finish for a cheap guitar, and decent neck feel. I'm glad I own one; I might consider another model from them.
