beautiful swing

This was given to us as a gift. It's very nice and sturdy. The only problem I have is that the very lowest speed, the best speed in my opinion for a newborn, slows down by it self in just a few minutes. The next to lowest speed is too fast. My grandson is only two weeks old so I am not sure what age this will be best for. There are quite a few more speeds to go and I can't imagine it needing to go any faster.

I'm just going to get to the point with this one:The bad-The mobile is too low, you hit your babies head on it.-Very easy to hit you babies head on the blue bar because you cant see hardly what your doing with the top of the swing in your way.-The mobile grinds and squeaks and sounds horrible and loud so we cant ever use it.-The legs come off the floor about a inch when it swings (my baby is only 6 weeks old!) and thats on the first speed setting.-The music turns off after playing 4 songs or so and it wakes up the baby.-If you turn it into a front facing swing instead of a side swinging one it hits and jerks the baby around and it throws them forward. Not a good design if you ask me.The good-Plugs in, no batteries :)-Easy to use especially when its the middle of the night and your tired and baby is fussing.-Good tunes my baby loves them.-The light is awesome for calming them down too!Improvements that need to be made-More padding-Better leg room, white thing should be covered too. Its cold on babies feet as infant.-More quiet when swinging-Come in more colors exp for girlshope this helps someone at least. Its not worth the money in my opinion. But what is now adays anyways?

From the beginning, the music, mobile, and swing setting did not seem to work. The music and mobile were sporadic; the swing setting did not make a difference. When I contacted customer service (CS), the representative was very kind, as I have read about F-P representatives on other reviews, and offered to send us another motor. The second motor worked as it was supposed to, but for only two weeks. The mobile does not work/rotate any more. During those two weeks, our daughter loved the swing. She loved the selection of music (complaint is that it's only 7 minutes) and the mobile of sea creatures rotating above her head and was able to fall asleep in it, content and entertained. Now, it is sad to see our daughter looking up at the sea creatures, in anticipation of them rotating above her head. She doesn't want to sit in it at times and doesn't fall asleep as quickly, as she's not hypnotized by the mobile. I have spoken with a CS representative and have even sent an email message about this issue. They are sending a third motor. I asked why this was the case (she said it could be "electronic"), if there were other complaints about the motor (she didn't say). We haven't received the third motor yet and can't wait to get it. Considering the price of this swing, an unreliable motor is something that Fisher-Price really needs to address. I am glad that there is a one-year warranty; however, how many more times will there be a motor issue and how many other parents have experienced something similar. In addition, there isn't sufficient padding in the seat (our daughter looked like she was in extreme pain a couple of times), so we have put a towel for additional cushioning. Also, although it says "speed" for the swing setting, I have heard that it is the arc of the swing (very confusing). This product has affected my husband's view of Fisher-Price, as being unreliable and cheaply manufactured. If it were not for the defunct motor, insufficient seat cushioning, and speed vs arc issue, I would have given this product 5 stars.
