I love that it's QUIET, but there's no auto shut-off.

I bought this from a brick and mortar store (cough Target) at their half price end of season sale. It seems to have everything I want except there's no automatic shut-off feature. Another reviewer mentioned if you let it continue to run after the tank empties, it will turn the filter brown and nasty. So I'm just careful to not let that happen. I love the fact that the fan noise is quiet as compared to other humidifiers I've heard, even when it's on high speed. High speed is no louder than an ordinary box fan running at low or medium speed. Low speed on this unit is very quiet. The top of the 1.1 gallon tank is flat so it's easy to set the tank in your kitchen sink to fill, and easy to set the full tank on your countertop to screw the lid back on. Many humidifiers have tanks with the tops at an angle which makes it hard to fill and put the lid back on easily. To me that falls into the "What the *bleep* were they thinking???" category.It has a UV light that kills 99.9% of mold, bacteria, fungus and virus in the water that goes into the unit. The sanitized water then enters the base where it's absorbed by the wicking filter. Room air is drawn in at the base and is pulled through the wet filter which humidifies the air, which is then blown out the top of the unit. That creates a fine invisable mist which goes into the room air. It doesn't seem to make the surroundings damp like some other humidifiers I've read reviews on, and I like that feature a lot. It does blow cool air as it's an evaporative cool mist unit and not a warm mist unit, so in winter I don't want it blowing towards me since I keep my house cool to save on the heating bill. (Yes, I'm cheap.)It uses only 50 watts of electricity to run, has an unbreakable water tank, and the water tank and tray are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning (which I haven't had to do yet cuz I just bought it yesterday). It's intended for medium size rooms, and can run for up to 24 hours per filling on low speed.All in all I like it and would recommend it. The only gripe I have with the Honeywell HCM350 is the lack of an automatic shut-off, that's why only 4 stars.
