SIRUI T-1205X Tripod is the perfect compact traveler's companion. With its easy folding design, it can be reversely folded into a more compact size (a length of 13.39 in) that will fit with one of the recommended SIRUI ball heads in the traveling case. Only weighing about 0.8 kg (1.76 lbs), the model can support up to 22 lbs of photographic equipment and stay very sturdy at the same time. This 5-section 8X carbon fiber tripod also comes with a short center column that you may use interchangeably with the main center column for low-height shooting. Two adjustment settings are available that click in place automatically to lock the angle.
The T-1205X is ideal for use with 35mm photographic cameras, DSLRs (even a Canon 5D Mark II with lens), and digital or conventional type video camcorders. The recommended ball heads are SIRUI G-10, K-10X, but the G-20 and K-20X also work.

This is my second Sirui tripod, and I couldn't be more pleased with both of them. My first one was a standard tripod, and - although it was small and lightweight - it wasn't quite as small as this one. I was approaching a three week trip to London and a cruise of the Mediterranean. I wanted something that was stable and strong enough to be useful, but light and small enough to pack and carry. Heavy or bulky tripods are wasted weight and space - you never carry them with you. This one is very, very small when fully collapsed - just over 13 inches. It weighs almost nothing and is very easy to toss into a day pack. I combined it with a Manfrotto ball head that weighed more than the tripod itself. The combination was perfect for me. I was able to use it two nights in London to take photographs of that wonderful city. It was easy to deploy and collapse quickly, and folded up to almost nothing for trips on the Underground. In fact, it was light enough to carry fully extended between shot sites on the south bank of the Thames. I also used it in Venice, Italy for one night of shooting and again, it was so easy to carry around on the various boats and crowded streets. I got some amazing shots. I was also able to use the tripod most days for panorama shots of the various ports we docked in, especially in Salerno Italy and Villefrance, France.My travel kit didn't contain any of my larger lenses like the Tamron 200-500 or the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VRII. But, this sturdy tripod should have no trouble managing them if I decide to use it around town in DC. It is rated to handle the weight of those lenses pretty easily. As it was, I used a Nikon D7000 as my primary body on the tripod due to its amazing noise capacity at high ISOs. My primary lenses for the tripod were the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 and the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. Neither is a full pro-lens weight, but they are fairly substantial lenses, and the combination of the D7000 on top of the tripod was potentially a top-heavy problem. It turned out to be fine - the tripod was sturdy and stable and I never once felt my equipment was at risk.It's not a perfect tripod - it has screw-tightened legs instead of clips like a Manfrotto. I actually prefer the clips as they are quicker to open and shut. But, that's not a major problem for me. I'm not often in that much of a hurry to set the tripod up or take it down. It can also be a bit awkward to manipulate it in the dark, but that could be a function of my newness with the tripod. Practice could take care of that. Overall, it's a huge bargain for the price - the size and weight make it a perfect travel tripod, and pretty decent one in any case. I could easily use it for my only tripod without any problems. But, I have a larger Sirui aluminum tripod that I use most times when weight isn't an issue. This one is absolutely perfect for travel.As soon as I can, I'll post some of the shots I took with the tripod so you can see the results. I could not be more pleased and would recommend this tripod to anyone.
